The Cottages

I am drawn to the old and worn. My heart aches as I see the simpler pleasures of the old fashioned family vacation places disappear. Life is complicated enough.

I was searching for "comfort lodging." That's something like mashed potatoes. It is simple, and very satisfying. Comfort lodging to me is complete privacy and independence, a good uncomplicated bed and bath, incomparable natural beauty, fire, water, and my dog (of course, my husband also)! Comfort lodging is a seaside cottage.

I am not a "morning person" so I need good strong coffee, and a quiet, slow start, maybe by the fire, or staring out at the ocean, maybe thinking of nothing for a change. This is cottage vacationing.

I need a place where I can see and hear the sounds of nature--the creek, the roar of the ocean surf, the barking of the seals, the cacophony of the frogs, birds, butterflies, and a visible night sky. Something like camp.

So, I found it for myself, so that I could offer it to you!
