Seeds as Poetry
A note from a visitor

Dear Renata and Tomata,

I bought these seeds just for you
so your bountiful garden could spew
forth from the botanist's paradise,
fruits from the hallowed Gardens of Kew.

Cast the seeds of broccoli
with decorum, if not flair,
and when you do,
be sure to say
a few kind words for Tony Blair.

Plant the cabbage carefully,
then watch for it to sprout.
You'll be the talk of Brussells,
before the year is out.

Lettuce ask not what
a garden can do for us.
Rather, ponder with anticipation
just what it is we've sown.
And in due thyme
fruits will be borne
from beneath thy sandy loam.

With affection, and apologies to real poets,

Susie Q

The visitor was just back from London
and the seeds were from the
Royal Horticultural Society
in Ipswich, England.
