Mar Vista Cottages
an exchange with a former guest
"Just a note for old time's sake - I just discovered your web site. We spent our honeymoon at Mar Vista in October 1983, up in Cabin # 8.... Glad to see you are preserving some of the unique charm of Mar Vista."

"Mary!
So nice to hear from you!
Can't you come back for a visit? I think
it is a must. Especially if you are still married to the same person.
The cottages came close to being torn down. The property was being offered for sale with a fully designed and permitted development for 26 luxury hotel units.
Lucky for us, no one bought the development project before we came along.

Our new window curtains
include hand stitched details.
Thanks again, I loved getting your note.
Sincerely,
Renata"

"...we did go back to Mar Vista for our first anniversary! Now we live in Minnesota so it's hard to get back there. But yes, we are still married! I decided to see if Mar Vista had a web site yesterday and there you were. I half expected to see, as you said, that it was turned into characterless condos. It is such a lovely spot. We are considering moving back to CA and it certainly would be nice to go back to Mar Vista on our 20th!"

The southern edge of our property still enjoys the wonderful redwood forest and meandering creek - an important reminder of a day when the tall trees covered the entire coast. Some of the bedroom windows open directly into the forest and a path past the old sheep fence leads down to the creek below.
